The Mario Kart franchise is a long and storied one where it has endured generation after generation of Nintendo consoles, but back in 2018, that changed when Nintendo announced that they would be bringing Mario Kart onto mobile phones in the form of Mario Kart Tour. Now after more than a year of waiting, it seems that we finally have a release date.
In an announcement made on Twitter, Nintendo has confirmed that Mario Kart Tour will be released for mobile on the 25th of September, 2019. Android gamers who are interested in the game can actually go ahead and pre-register their interest on the Google Play Store where they will be notified once the app is live.
At its core, Mario Kart Tour will share similarities to the Mario Kart franchise where players race against each other and try to take out the competition by shooting shells and banana peels at the competition. There are some differences between this version and the console version, such as the stages where in Mario Kart Tour, it will feature courses inspired by real-world cities.

There will also be new challenges introduced to the game that according to Nintendo, will put a twist on the existing Mario Kart formula. The game will be free-to-play but expect that there will be microtransactions. We have no idea if Mario Kart Tour will live up to Mario Kart on consoles, but we only have to wait until next month to find out.
