Earlier this week, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau posted on Twitter that he had some kind of OnePlus-related announcement to make on Wednesday, and sure enough he has. In his latest posting, the CEO has shared a very short teaser video in which he hinted that the upcoming handset would be “fast and smooth”.
According to Lau:
“Excited to share the next product from OnePlus will unleash a new era of Fast and Smooth. Especially Smooth! Smooth is more challenging than Fast – a true test of hardware and software. The new product is just beautiful – I can’t wait for you to see it!”
What’s interesting about the teaser video is that there are three dots (or circles) in the word “smooth”. For those who are wondering about the significance of those three dots, there is a good chance that it could be referring to how the phone might be packing a triple camera on the back. This is based on renders of the OnePlus 7 which shows that it might sport a triple camera setup on the back and a popup selfie camera.
None of this can be confirmed, but the teaser video does allude to that. Lau does not mention when the phone will be officially launched, but last we heard, it could be revealed on the 14th of May. Hopefully, OnePlus will have some kind of confirmation soon, so we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information when it becomes available.
In the meantime, it has been rumored that the OnePlus 7 could be offered in three variants: a regular version, a Pro version, and also a 5G version.
