Huawei is set to unveil the P30 and P30 Pro in a few weeks and just like any other smartphone approaching release, the inevitable leaks begin to surface. We’ve already seen some details revealed and even the P30 Pro benchmarked, but this latest leak gives an unobstructed view of what the devices will look like and another look at the specs.
According to WinFuture, the P30 Pro will have a 6.47-inch 2340 x 1080 OLED screen with the same curved edges we’ve seen on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. The P30 Pro will keep the notch to achieve a bezel-less display with a 32-megapixel front-facing camera housed in the waterdrop notch. It will be powered by an octa-core Kirin 980 processor, 8GB of RAM, and will be available in 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB storage options. The device will have a 4200mAh battery that will undoubtedly provide all-day battery life, and IP68 water resistance. The triple camera setup on the P30 Pro sees a 40-megapixel main sensor with OIS and f/1.6 aperture paired with a 20-megapixel wide-angle camera and an 8-megapixel lens with a hybrid zoom and a ToF sensor for depth-data. One of the main selling points of the P30 Pro will be its capability to offer a 10x zoom based on the triple camera array and some software magic.
The Huawei P30 will feature a smaller 6.1-inch 2340×1080 flat OLED display with the same Kirin 980 internal processor as its big sister. The RAM is dropped to 6GB and will only be available in the 128GB storage option with a smaller 3650mAh battery. The camera array is slightly different too – there is a 40-megapixel main sensor with f/1.8 aperture but no OIS, which is paired with a wide-angle 16-megapixel lens, and 8-megapixel zoom lens with a 5x hybrid zoom feature.
Huawei is set to unveil the P30 Pro and P30 on March 26 but no doubt the company will have some excellent AI features to showcase, and I can wait to see how that 10x zoom works. Huawei is expected to place added emphasis on the cameras on the P30 and Pro 30 at its keynote. The company will want to build on the success of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and the P20 Pro, which were the first devices to achieve the same 3-figure marking on DxOMark.
