Thanks to confirmation earlier this year by Xiaomi, we know that the Black Shark 2 gaming smartphone is in the works, but the main question is when will the device be officially announced? Turns out we won’t have to wait much longer because Xiaomi has confirmed that the handset will be unveiled on the 18th of March.
The invite to the event sent out by Xiaomi doesn’t really tell us much in terms of what to expect from the phone, but we think we have a pretty good idea of what to expect. Benchmarks from earlier have revealed that the phone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset and could come in configurations offering either 8GB or a whopping 12GB of RAM.
A recently-leaked photo has also shown that the phone could continue to pack a dual camera setup on its back, albeit in a different orientation from its predecessor. We can also most likely look forward to the use of an internal liquid cooling system that was used in the previous model which was one of the features.
According to Xiaomi, this liquid cooling system allows the phone to run 8 degrees Celsius cooler than other phones, but it is unclear if the company will continue to use the same cooling system or introduce an improved one. On the display front, so far Razer is the only smartphone maker to use a 120Hz display on a smartphone so we aren’t very optimistic about the Black Shark 2 sporting similar tech.
Either way all of this should be made official in the next week or so, so remember to check back with us then for more updates.
