Huawei recently sent out invites to its P30 series announcement which will take place next month in Paris. One of the rumored features of the upcoming handset is that it will feature 5x lossless zoom, where users can zoom into photos without any loss of detail, which its invite seems to have hinted at.
OPPO, on the other hand, seems to have responded in kind of Huawei’s announcement where Brian Shen, the company’s VP, shared a video on Twitter in which it demonstrates the company’s 10x lossless zoom. This is effectively double the zoom that Huawei is offering on its P30 series, and judging by the video, it seems to be particularly effective.
In the video, it shows Shen slowly zooming in on Barcelona’s iconic Sagrada Familia church, where with each step, it shows how the details and clarity remains. OPPO had previously shown off its 10x lossless zoom camera module last month, but it is largely expected that they would have a more in-depth demonstration planned for MWC 2019.
Now whether or not 10x lossless zoom is a camera feature that all users need is up for debate, but if anything it does a pretty good job of demonstrating how far camera technology has come along. We should have more details in the coming week where OPPO is also expected to announce the OPPO F11 Pro and maybe even a foldable phone.
Another first. 👀
