The HTC U11 EYEs is the company’s second attempt at a near bezel-less device

While most of us were fast asleep, HTC decided to announce that a new device was coming in the form of a “Save the Date” for January 15th. It seems that the HTC U11 EYEs will be officially unveiled, but @evleaks (Evan Blass) took this time to spare us from the anticipation.

Blass not only shared some of the official press renderings but also shared some of the specs for the upcoming mid-range device from HTC. The HTC U11 EYEs will be the name of the new device, but there doesn’t seem to be anything earth-shattering coming from HTC.

The U11 EYEs will feature a 6-inch display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080, making this the second HTC device to be released with a 2:1 aspect ratio after the HTC U11 Plus. Powering the U11 EYEs will be the Snapdragon 652 chipset which has been coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.

We don’t know anything about the camera sensors that are equipped with the device, but we do know that it will have IP67 water and dust resistance in-tow. Blass also shared that the device will feature a 3,930mAh battery and will be running Android Nougat out of the box, a surprising move due to the availability of Android Oreo.

For those of you out there who are fans of HTC’s recent trend of “Edge Sense” devices with the pressure-sensitive frame, that trend will continue with the U11 EYEs. Finally, the device will come in three color options and is expected to be priced around CNY 3,300 (~$510), but it will only be available in select markets at launch.

Let us know what you think about this device and if you’re interested to see another mid-range option from HTC hit the market.
