Huawei is the world’s third-largest smartphone manufacturer, but has very little presence here in the United States. The company has been slowly working its way into the States with the release of various Honor devices and the Huawei Mate 9 which was brought to the US at CES 2017.

According to ABC News, Huawei has some big plans in store for CES 2018, one of which includes making an official announcement of carrier partnerships. This isn’t the first rumbling that we’ve seen regarding Huawei’s planned entrance into the US, as a previous leak showed software designed specifically for AT&T.

“We will sell our flagship phone, our product, in the U.S. market through carriers next year. I think that we can bring value to the carriers and to consumers. Better product, better innovation, better user experience.”

– Richard Yu, Huawei President

Speaking to ABC News, Huawei President Richard Yu confirmed that the Huawei Mate 10 will make its way to select US carriers starting at some point in time in 2018. This move also comes as Yu confirmed plans to work with Japanese carriers to make the Huawei lineup of devices available to even more consumers.

Other than the Huawei Mate 10, we aren’t exactly sure if Huawei plans to make any of its other devices available through carriers. But that hasn’t stopped the company from releasing devices to the unlocked market, as evidenced by the recent release of the Honor 7X which is available through Honor’s own online storefront.

Although Huawei may be a trusted name for many of us, the fact remains that you can not easily purchase a Huawei device from carriers like you can others. We have been expecting this move for some time, and it seems that the timing is just right for Huawei to enter the US market with the help of the likes of AT&T and Verizon

Let us know what you think about these plans, and if you would be interested in snagging a Mate 10 Pro through your carrier of choice, without shelling out hundreds of dollars for an unlocked model.
