Android O isn’t out yet and HTC is already thinking about updating the U11 to Android Q

0

Android O just hit beta status, but HTC is looking at the bigger picture for updates to the HTC U11 and, presumably, other flagships beyond it.

In a confirmation that the company would be updating the HTC U11 to Android O, HTC revealed to TrustedReviews that they are thinking about extending their usual timeline of support, with the company eyeing “the next three versions” of Android. That would be O, P, and Q, if our knowledge of the alphabet remains sound.

This is not to be taken as a promise for anything beyond O, of course, as HTC says their exact plans will be dependent on the hardware and software demands of the new versions, something they obviously can’t predict in the here and now. We’d say it’s probably safe to expect at least Android P, but things may change so much by the time Q comes around that the company might not quite make it that far.

That said, it’s always refreshing to hear a company mull over the possibility of more support in an age where the faucet can run drier than the Mojave Desert.
