The OnePlus 5 hype train officially begins

0

OnePlus has built up a pretty solid reputation of being the smartphone industry’s biggest hype beast over the years. The company doesn’t live on blood, they live on teasers. We don’t get treated to big swaths of spec leaks: they reveal every single little detail on their own over a period of time like watching every drip of the coffee-brewing process.

So, obviously, the company is already dropping teasers about the OnePlus 5. CEO Pete Lau took to his Weibo page to share the image you see above. It’s bare of details about, well, anything, but they clearly convey that a new smartphone is being worked on right now, and a teaser means it won’t be too long before we hear more about it.

Rumors have tried to paint a picture early, with mockup renders giving us an early idea of what to expect. And while we have yet to hear anything concrete on specs, we’re sure OnePlus is aiming for the use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835, especially since their previous 2 phones were rocking Qualcomm’s previous 2 flagship chipsets.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.
