Confirmed: phones with clear backplates look awesome

Remember those old gaming consoles and controllers back in the day that were see-through and you could see all its electrical bits working inside? Well, yours truly has never been a big fan of those.

BUT, when I saw the most beautiful new phones with the same effect present, I changed my mind. JerryRigEverything has been toying around with the latest devices sporting glass backs, including the LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8.

He uses his technical prowess to take the glass backs off of these phones and remove the coloring film that’s used to give them their distinct looks. Once he’s removed the film and does whatever he needs to do inside (such as chopping off excess bits of plastic and peeling off adhesive), he cleans the glass and reattaches it using super strong double-sided clear tape.

The result looks pretty remarkable and should stir up the geek inside just about everyone. We probably wouldn’t recommend doing this without tons of experience, but if you do give it a try then do so at your own risk. For the less adventurous, just check out the videos above.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.
