The Samsung Galaxy S8 will not be unveiled at Mobile World Congress, but the company is planning to share some information regarding its upcoming flagship smartphone during the trade show. Specifically, Samsung plans to share the Galaxy S8’s launch details on February 27th, one day after its MWC press conference. The news comes directly from Kim Dong-jin, chief executive of Samsung Electronics’ wireless business.

Multiple rumors have indicated that Samsung is planning to unveil the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus at an event in New York City on March 29th with the retail launch date of the two devices is expected to be April 21.

By announcing the launch details of the its Galaxy S8 devices during Mobile World Congress, Samsung is hoping to distract the media and the general public from the unveiling of the LG G6, Huawei P10 and the dozens of other devices which will be shown off during the show.
