6 Huawei phones will get Android 7.0 Nougat in Q1 2017

Wondering when your Huawei phone will get stepped up to Android 7.0 Nougat? The company has confirmed that at least 6 of their devices will get the update at some point in Q1 2017.

Those phones include The Huawei Mate 8, P9, P9 Plus, P9 Lite, Nova, and Nova Plus. They’ll all be hooked up with Huawei’s new EMUI 5.0, too, which figures to be the most pleasant software experience on a Huawei phone to date (thanks to the fact that they actually get out of the way and let Android shine, for once).

Huawei didn’t give out any specifics in terms of exact rollout dates or plans. We’d say not to expect all of these devices to get the updates on the same exact day, though, and we’re not going to place bets on it coming to all regions at the same time, either.

For owners of other Huawei handsets — including those on the sub-brand Honor — this doesn’t mean you’ll never get Nougat, it’s just that Huawei has yet to give out any information on plans for your particular phone. If that’s you, then stay patient and you shall be rewarded in due time.
