Samsung recently released the Android 7.0 Nougat beta program for those using the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge and everyone who could, jumped at the chance to join the program. However, it seems that not everything is roses and daisies as there are some issues with the beta software.
The biggest issue seems to be that owners of the Samsung Gear VR cannot use the headset with their new device. This issue is due to the fact that the Oculus Store application has yet to be updated with support for Android Nougat.
Unfortunately, there is no way to bypass this issue, so if you want to use the Gear VR, you’ll have to wait until the updated app is released. The benefit of not being able to use the Gear VR is that you won’t have to worry about performance issues or overheating.
In the meantime, Samsung has started rolling out the second version of the Android Nougat beta program in Europe. This new build seems to just bring minor bug fixes so there’s nothing major here, but we should see regular builds being released from Samsung until the update goes official for everyone.
