When Google released Android 7.0 Nougat for Nexus devices, there were a couple devices that weren’t available right away. It was a few days before we saw the factory images for the Nexus 6P, but that has since been rectified. That left the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE as the only two devices that could not be manually updated to the latest version of Android.
“Google has let us know that the rollout for Nougat on the Nexus 6 and 9 LTE will begin in a few weeks, but there isn’t an exact timetable available to share for those updates.”
It’s been a few weeks and Nexus 6/Nexus 9 LTE users are still waiting for the official factory image. The folks at Android Police reached out to Google and were informed that those devices would see the update in a few weeks, but that there was no specific timetable as to when the update would land.
If you don’t feel like waiting anymore, you can always opt into the Android Beta Program and get the update right away. But be sure to follow our tutorial and make sure all of your information is backed up.
