Samsung sets a September 1st date for their next big announcement

Samsung is starting to dole out invites for a big announcement to be made September 1st. That date falls a day shy of IFA Berlin, a stage where Samsung used to have a big new smartphone to show off. But as you may know, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has already been outed and detailed — so what’s this event all about?

It’s all Gear, baby. Samsung’s invite shows the hands of a watch piercing through the lettering, which is an obvious nod to the Samsung Gear S3 we’re expecting to see.

For this iteration, Samsung is likely to build on the winning formula they found with the Samsung Gear S2. Expect a round smartwatch with a rotary dial, and expect it to come in both sporty and fashionable flavorings.

For new goods, Samsung is expected to load up on health-focused sensors to ensure you can record your workout with as much detail as you’d like.
