Is this our first look at an LG G5 Magic Slot module?

We’ve been hearing a lot about some unique functionality said to be baked into the LG G5. The device will supposedly have a “Magic Slot” that can let you extend its functionality with the use of modules. Our initial thoughts were some sort of extended battery or even a micro-projector.

The problem is that we haven’t seen an actual module throughout all the LG G5 leaks we’ve seen to date. The latest alleged leak — which the source claims to be totally legit — shows some sort of hump on the rear of the LG G5.

The photo is rather blurry, but we can make out a series of dials and buttons on the side of it. The early thought is that this could be an accessory that turns the LG G5 into a point-and-shoot camera with dials for zoom and a physical shutter button. That would make sense for LG considering they place great emphasis on the camera experiences for their flagship phones. Bonus points if such an accessory doubles as an extra battery pack.

Whether or not this leak is legit, it does paint a nice picture of the sort of stuff this supposed “Magic Slot” can make possible. What kind of accessory would you want for your LG G5? Get creative and let us know!

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.
