Minecraft: Story Mode coming to Android October 15th

Telltale Games has announced that the first of 5 Minecraft: Story Mode games will be arriving October 15th. It’ll be in the Google Play Store that day, and will likely cost you somewhere around $5 per episode.

Minecraft: Story Mode isn’t your traditional Minecraft game, where you’d mine materials to build houses, protect yourself from monsters and fight the Ender Dragon. Instead, it’s Telltale’s classic choice-driven story-fueled engine set in the Minecraft universe. Here’s the skinny on what’s happening:

In Minecraft: Story Mode, playing as either a male or female hero named ‘Jesse,’ you’ll embark on a perilous adventure across the Overworld, through the Nether, to the End, and beyond. You and your friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect; slayers of the Ender Dragon. While at EnderCon in hopes of meeting Gabriel the Warrior, Jesse’s friends discover that something is wrong… something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and you must set out on a quest to find The Order of the Stone if you are to save your world from oblivion.

We never imagined Minecraft could have a riveting story, but we’ll give anything a shot. Players can choose between male and female, which the name Jesse supports just fine. You’ll even be able to choose between 3 alternative looks per gender.

Unfortunately it doesn’t sound like there will be any actual mining going on, but that’s what Minecraft: Pocket Edition is for, we suppose. Stay on the lookout once October 15th rolls around if this is something you’ve been waiting for.
