It’s always a good episode when something crazy happens to Chris. This week he accidentally left his DROID Turbo in the freezer overnight. We also discuss our first phones and something eerily familiar about the Samsung Captivate. Other topics include the Asus Zenfone 2, LG G4 launch date, Mad Men finale, The Witcher 3, and much more! Thanks for watching/listening!

Got the Zenfone 2 yet Chris?
Initial impresions?
Ahhh! I had a Blackjack! I loved that thing!
Oh man, I remember my own “water” story with a phone. It was when I had the first Note, with AT&T (Note 1). Goodness. Toilet water!
You’re never really prepared (emotionally) for something like this.
You listen to other people’s stories (in amusement) and think
to yourself, “that will never be me”. Then it happens, and the terror
is real people. It is real, raw terror…
This happened on a Labor Day morning. Little sister off from school and a chance to catch
up on some of our favorite shows. Why was it so critical that I browse
through that morning’s world news as I was walking to the bathroom???
Probably because I’m a psycho and I need to know what’s going on in the
world at any given moment.
I was still half asleep, thinking about the nightmare I had the night
before. Then it happened. My left hand’s basic gripping function
betrayed me and my Galaxy Note flies out of it and into the toilet. It
was perfect physics that made it land perfectly inside without touching
any other part of the toilet.
I’ve never dove inside a toilet that fast before in my life. There was
no hesitation. My desire to sink my hands inside this toilet was
great.
The brain is a funny thing. As soon as I grabbed the Note and removed
it from its aqueous grave, I immediately went into auto mode and
starting acting out the things I’ve read over the years about saving
these kinds of situations. I started ripping the thing apart, removing
the back casing popped out the battery and started shaking and trying to dry
out each piece as much as possible with a t-shirt. Then, one
dominating image popped into my mind: RICE!
Specifically, dry rice. I rushed to the kitchen and ripped open the
first box I could see(The Inception music was playing in my head the
whole time). Grabbed an empty plastic container and dumped the box of
rice inside. I buried the Note in the rice with the battery and sealed
the container.
I left it inside the rice overnight. I know maybe I could have just given it a few hours but I didn’t wanna take any chances and this was my first water/phone crisis. The next morning I put it back together and it worked perfectly. Actually, before I put it back together I had taken some microfiber and alcohol to some parts to try and disinfect as much of it as possible.
Never again. My bathroom is a no-phone zone. The news can wait.
