Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Gear VR update

When international Samsung Galaxy Note 4 models received Android 5.0 Lollipop back in Februaryfollowed by the AT&T model last week — we knew more carrier variants would be following suit. And just like that, Verizon is now set to push out Lollipop to their version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

According to Verizon, the update will arrive as software version LRX22C.N910VVRU1BOAF (or just VRU1BOAF for short) and will introduce improvements such as a new runtime (ART), 64-bit support, Android Auto on supported vehicles/dash units, and of course, a fresh new Material design.

The update is fairly large, tipping the scales at just over 1.7GB. For those that don’t feel like waiting for their device to prompt them first, you can manually check for the update on your phone by going to Settings > About Phone > Software Updates > Check for Updates > Download Now.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. That’s a damn shame. TMobile will be the last. Should have known.

    1. Usually it is Verizon, weird they got this out before T-mobile.

      1. They don’t actually have it out, no one has reported actually getting it

        1. Yeah, I’ve seen em sometimes roll out later on in the evening before. Might start early tomorrow too.

          1. I’m getting the OTA now. Had to get the 4.4.4 OTA before getting the Lollipop OTA. Weird

  2. I’m still mad at the fact that we didn’t have this before the S6 came out. I thought it would have been around December. Not sure who to blame Samsung or Tmobile. ?

  3. I really hope the lag on the menu screen of my gnote 4 gets fixed and pronto!
If it doesn’t happen quickly, I might exchange it for cash at some Apple Store and get the 6 Plus. The gnote 4 has really disappointed me and so has android.

    1. Are you sure the “lag” is not a brain tumor? I would have that checked out by a neurologist.

  4. Silly Big Red… they forgot that 3 comes before 4 >_<

  5. Since the Note 4 was one generation ahead of iPhone 6, it’s now three generations ahead. Apple fanboys need to come up with a new excuse why their device is so 2012.

  6. T-Mobile, wtf are you doing?

  7. T-Mobile should : Uncarrier 10.0 Faster updates on all devices.

    1. T-mobile should be rolling it out soon

    2. Followed by Uncarrier 11.0 – Putting John Legere on some serious medication as well as putting him in an asylum.

  8. I have a note 4 on Verizon and I don’t have any update

    1. ‘I have a note 4 on Verizon’

That’s where you screwed up :)

      1. No not really I’ve had T-Mobile, sprint, and at&t none of them gave me the service I was promised sprint never gave me 4g T-Mobile always gave me faulty phones and at&t was to expensive and I always was given crappy service. Verizon I get a non faulty phone not once none of the lines on my account, high speed data, 4g, 150$ a month for 3 lines with 10gb. Maybe what you have works for you where you love but what I have where I live Verizon works for me best

  9. And somewhere in the world a Motorola Droid Turbo owner shed a tear

  10. Replace “Android 5 Lollipop” with “root” and then you’ll get me interested.

    1. They achieved root yesterday, it should be available this weekend according to xda

      1. I will be cautiously optimistic…

  11. There is no spoon…………

  12. I’m curious if it will be some version of 5.0.x or 5.1. I don’t want to rush into this update after hearing how crappy it was for the S5.

    1. It will be 5.0.1 according to the Verizon PDF (it lists build LRX22C, which is 5.0.1).

      1. Thanks B0B.
Damn, I was hoping that the delay and the N6, that it would be 5.1 too.

      2. Thanks – but damn, not what I wanted to hear. I was hoping that it would be 5.1 since we had to wait so long for the Nex6,

  13. Has anyone actually got the update or is this some kind of cruel joke? Mine still says no update available. :(

    1. I have two and they are both down loading right now

    2. No joke.. Mine came around noon today

  14. Yes!!!!!! Mine is going through now

  15. Its up now, download as i type this

  16. 5.0.1

  17. Update service not currently available… sadlol, we must have taken the system down with our fanatical update attempts. :/

  18. Its nothing special. Lollipop looks ugly on Touchwizz and clunky compared to my nexus 6.
