Hands-on with the metal-clad Samsung Galaxy A5 and A3 [VIDEO]

Samsung is capable of great hardware design. They’ve re-used the same design on the Samsung Galaxy S5 so long that we’ve started to forget that. To show that they can still pump out great looking devices we’ve got the Samsung Galaxy A5 and A3. We got our hands on these devices that represent what the Samsung Galaxy S6 should look like.

The Samsung Galaxy A5 has a 5-inch 720p display with a 1.2GHz processor and 13MP camera. The Galaxy A3 has a 4.5-inch 540 x 960 display, 8MP camera, and the same 1.2GHz processor. These are mid-range devices in terms of specs, but that’s not why these devices are interesting.

Both the A5 and A3 are made of aluminum. This makes them look like much more than just your average mid-range Android device. Samsung has been using more metal on devices lately, which leads us to believe we could see the same thing on the Galaxy S6. Do you like the look of metal?

By the way, both of these devices will be available soon in India.

Ever since I flipped open my first phone I've been obsessed with the devices. I've dabbled in other platforms, but Android is where I feel most at home.

  1. They just need to get rid of that stupid home button and the capacitive buttons and adopt the standard Android button layout (on-screen).

Oh yeah, and get rid of TouchWiz.

    1. You’re basically asking them to do away with what makes a Samsung device a Samsung device.

  2. Don’t be stupid AGAIN Samsung engineers. Your future phones should include things like:
-at least one high quality front facing speaker (mandatory, or I won’t even consider the phone)
-bigger/better sensor in your cameras & Cupertino level image processing
    -32gb standard with 64 & 128gb options
-how about a 1 piece glass front where the home button is also one of your super nice disappearing capacitive buttons and is delineated by a gentle ripple in the glass as if a pebble is dropped in water & only produces a single wave (heck, make it the same oval shape if you want more continuity between iterations).
-how about a system level theming engine so we can really customize our phones (I hate the blinding energy wasting white that is all over things like the dialer, call screen and contacts).
-how about enough energy/technology for 10 hours of screen on time per charge (I’d pay for the option and I don’t care if it’s a few millimeters thicker. What good is a thin phone if it’s dead when I need it?)

    1. -3gb RAM at a minimum
      -MUST have expandable memory
-removable battery at minimum of 3000mhz
-waterproof and dustproof are a big plus

  3. That’s what people want for the last 5 years! Just do the same again with the latest octa chipset and call it S6!

  4. I think Samsung should keep the same lay out on the front..that’s their trademark! They have the rear to re arrange…and use metal…tone down touchwiz….I want the A5 and then Root it!!

  5. Even the metal looks cheap o_O

    1. LoL really, I’m no Samsung fan but really, it actually looks like it got solid build to it dude, of course it’s no M8 but it looks sturdier than a Ipone6

  6. IF this is mid-range the S6 better be the shizzzzzz!!!!

  7. More boring Samsung phones that look identical since the galaxy S2.
