Amazon is putting on their best deal for the Amazon Fire Phone since dropping it to $200 unlocked back in November. You can now grab the phone in the same unlocked capacity for $189, and don’t forget that comes with a year of Amazon Prime for free.
The Amazon Fire Phone might not be viewed or accepted in the same light as the latest devices from Samsung, Motorola and HTC, but it does still boast some nice specs for its price tag. Those specs include a 4.7-inch 720p display, a Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, and 2GB of RAM. It’s even sweeter if you do a lot of your e-shopping with Amazon as you’ll have access to all their storefronts and wares right in your pocket.
Our Amazon Fire Phone review is a good place to start if you’re wondering whether this phone is worth its new price tag. Be sure to check it out and head to Amazon to buy one right here if you’re interested.
The Good
Tight Amazon integration makes it a fine phone for accessing purchased media
Dynamic Perspective offers an interesting, if not intuitive, take on navigating the phone’s interface
Firefly works seamlessly and effortlessly to ID products, music, and more
The Bad
Hardware is sluggish, software seems half baked
No access to Google Play or Google services
Battery life left us wanting more
Overall: 2.5/5
I did not read HOW exactly, but i did read a headline about a week ago I think saying you can now access Good Play on the Firephone.
Well it’s a hack… anyone purchasing a firephone should do so without ANY expectations that it will be improved upon by the developers. If you’re NOT okay with the closed amazon ecosystem this phone provides there are plenty of ~200 dollar devices that compete or best this phone in the specs department that run near stock Android to chose from. IMHO even as a ‘budget’ phone this is a poor choice to make.
agree with that 100%.
Hmmmmm………
I’ll pass.
OMG we’re having a Fire sale!

Nope, negative. Do not want.
This post should be renamed to:
Grab the technological biggest flop of 2014 for way more money than it’s worth.
Was interested for my son until I read these posts. Thanks a lot. Much appreciated.
if it was $99 (the cost of a year of prime) and it still came with a year of prime I would get it for my 1.5 year old nephew. I think it would be useless for anyone else.
Can you even stream enough data to view Amazon Prime on carriers like AT&T without getting Throttled to below 28k modem speeds?
You can with AT&T and they won’t throttle you. You just have to sell your kidney to pay them back.
