Good news for smartwatch fans: the Sony SmartWatch 3 is now available from Google Play. You can buy Sony’s first Android Wear device right now for $249.99 and receive it in 1-2 days. At one time Sony said they wouldn’t be using Google’s wearable OS, but they eventually changed their mind at IFA.

The Smartwatch 3 has a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.6-inch 320×320 display, IP68 waterproofing, 4GB of storage, 512MB of memory, NFC, GPS, and a 420mAh battery. Sony claims the battery can last two full days with use, and up to four days on standby. They also claim the display is much easier to read in sunlight compared to other smartwatches.

Will you be buying the SmartWatch 3?

Ever since I flipped open my first phone I've been obsessed with the devices. I've dabbled in other platforms, but Android is where I feel most at home.

  1. I’ve read or heard nothing about this watch. Waiting on a review guys.

    1. That is a great point. It’s been on my wrist for nearly two weeks and there’s been no review or hype about it. Anywhere, which is weird considering its the first with GPS among other things, which made me buy it rather than the competition. Here is a video review for you idongacha: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dA6FbG1s7U

      1. Thanks. I’ll check it out.

        1. Somebody’s got to get the word out…

  2. Looks incredibly bland.

  3. I had the box in my hand. The watch itself looks decent for a sportswatch. It’s not too big either. The gps and waterproof feature is a plus. That said, I returned it without opening it. I will be trying the zen watch first.

  4. It look bad but there is a GPS and that’s beautiful for me. Hopefully the software is alright not like their smartphone.

  5. i will probably get one

  6. Why does the link take me to nook shop?

  7. Meh…when I rented it from Verizon, it was kind of uncomfortable to wear compared to the lighter 360. The wireless charging on the 360 makes plugging in so 1st world problem. The text was clearer on the Sony as well as boot time. WaterProof on the Sony vs WaterResistant on the 360 made no difference in the shower as streaming music to the bluetooth was constantly interrupted by Google Now wanting to do something for you :)

I don’t mind carrying my phone around when running so the GPS wasn’t an issue. The battery lasted a tad bit longer on the Sony, even with the always on face. I ended up taking it back to Verizon. Again, the main turn off was the feel of the Sony vs the Moto.

  8. Get the Sony Smartwatch right now at http://tiny.cc/y4j6ox
