Verizon’s Sony Xperia Z2 leaked on Sony Google+ page

Verizon is one of the last carriers we would have guessed to be in line for the Sony Xperia Z2. It’s not that they aren’t interested in getting some of the hottest phones, but Sony has been struggling to appeal to more than T-Mobile here in the United States.

That could be changing soon, though, as Sony has accidentally leaked a Verizon-branded version of the device on their Google+ page. The page was quickly removed, of course, but not before the internet was able to archive the goodness for all to see.

The Xperia Z2 is by far Sony’s best phone yet, although we still can’t seem to fall in love with those oversized bezels. It’s easy to fall in love with the rest of its tale of the tape, though, which includes a 5.2-inch 1080p HD display, a quad-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 chipset, 3GB of RAM and more.

With press materials seemingly being readied to get the marketing train rolling we could be seeing the device quite soon. Let’s just hope it doesn’t take too long for Sony and Verizon to come with the news we want to here.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. By the time they release the phone…Sony Xperia Z3 would have been announced!

    1. No kidding right? Of the two CDMA guys they chose the slowest to release a device.

    2. Indeed, that is a reason why i’m not going to buy a Sony xperia device.

  2. I wasn’t aware Sony cared about the CDMA guys that much anymore. Would love to experience an Xperia device but i doubt anything Xperia is coming to Sprint anytime soon.

  3. Can I talk about Verizon even though I’ve never used them?

    Install ALL the Verizon apps!!

  4. and those AWESOME bezels…

    1. No worse than the HTC M8, Xperia Z2 also features decent stereo speakers and a larger display.

      1. And a fantastic camera too.

  5. Bezels or not the device looks sharp and has great specs!

  6. Sony just doesn’t care about the US market. They announce a new flagship at MWC each year and 6 months later you still cannot get one on any major carrier here. Whereas Samsung, LG and HTC can somehow put them on the shelves weeks after they are announced. I’d like to try a sony flagship device but I need it to support all of AT&T’s bands and it needs to be available in a timely manner… *shrug*

    1. I know! It’s so ridiculous. Sony’s hemorrhaging money. They’ve sold off their computer division, Blu-ray sales are sinking because of digital media, I don’t understand why they wouldn’t want to expand the reach of their mobile hardware. You’re right, it’s no secret why Samsung LG and HTC are ahead of them, they’re shooting themselves in the foot.

  7. Ah, there’s that lovely Verizon logo right there on the face of the device… How many on the back? There’s still room on the sides!

    1. Are you serious? the verizon logo is a PoS.

      1. Oh honey…

        1. LMFAO!

On a side note, just taken off the anti-shatter film on my new xperia z1c….so now no carrier logo and no sony logo either. It’s a beautiful brand-free front face a la iPhone.

    2. Is this an American thing? I don’t see this kind of thing in Australia. I don’t think I’ve ever purchased a phone with network branding on it.

  9. But they didn’t support the z1 ultra , greedy bastards !

  10. I am in the UK and have had the Z2 for a couple of weeks, came from an HTC One, Nexus 4, HTC One X, Samsung GS2. Can say is the best I have used, I am a fan of the design, I use my phone alot when it is on a table, not having it rock every time you touch it is great. Took photos on holiday underwater which was a neat trick. Very happy with it, love HTC’s design chops but the Z2 made my HTC One look old immediately. Hope you guys get it as a choice, great bit of kit.
