It’s been an interesting weekend for Android lovers. Yesterday we saw the Nexus 5 leak again in (another) official press render. Today, the device that just-wont-stop-leaking appeared in a white color option. We’ve seen this color tipped in the retail packaging that leaked a few weeks ago, so we were expecting this version to make an appearance. But will it be available at launch? According to @evleaks, the white render came with a date: this Friday, November 1st. Take it as you will.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

Nexus 5 press images leak… again; could we see a Monday unveiling?

      1. Yep, everyone go for the black version! (So there’s enough white stock for me)

        1. still going for the white one :P even if i don’t digg the black camera yet, they’ve should gone with silver…

    2. Sir, sir, SIR ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME?!

    3. that’s a bad ass desk, but how does he get out ? does he have to like get over it.

      1. I think most of them like that have a section that flips up so you can walk out.

        1. if you look at it closely there is no line break on the desk or hinge lol, definitely need one of those those though.

  5. Alright, I give up. This is becoming similar to a xda hangout/waiting for shipment thread. I’m going to stop listening until I see it in the play store.

  6. Google, you don’t love me anymore? You won’t announce it….

    1. we love you! but…

  7. Okay, this I can have some faith in. Not going to expect the launch of the device, but I will be expecting some info. Like a release date or the announcement of an event.

    1. I know.. Crazy! Turns out the internet still works on Sundays. ;)

      1. You mean those emails I am getting every saturday that the internet will be down for maintenance on sunday are false? I will have a stern word with the sender, mr.R. Astley

  8. most leaked device ever?

  9. PLEASE BE CORRECT!!!! “SOBS”

  10. I already pre-order mine…with Evleaks The Grand Master Of the Preorder Order .

  11. This is the first Leak….the other ones were just pre leaks

    1. lol

    2. premature leaks lol

  12. MY.BODY.IS.READY!!!!

  13. The Panda Edition…somebody called it on a different site…it’s sounds just right

  14. That would be consistent with the original KitKat teaser “countdown” theory. I like it.

  15. Running kit kat but looks like an Oreo, interesting concept.

  16. The nexus 5 is the only phone I know that has leaks for leaks of leaks -_- give me my damn kit Kat already!!! Lol

    1. Nexus 5 is the only phone that has too many leaks, which just gives us sneak peaks, for the past few weeks, Which is making us all freaks.

  17. Wonder if it will be sold at bestbuy for the same price as on the play store?

    1. Probably not. Shipping it to Best Buy would probably increase the price.

  18. Why the black front on a white phone? Damn you LG, Damn you. I will still buy. Lol

  19. I want one. I feel like this is longest running tease. Lol

    1. Probably watching Twitter hashtags for the Leak Interest Crescendo.. then they’ll release it just as interest appears to be tapering off

  20. I like the black front and white back. the white bezel distracts me when the screen is off but with an all black front its like where does the screen start and end

    1. I completely agree. I got a vzw Dev edition moto x and I love the black and white combo.

    2. Then you buy a black phone. The people that want white should get white. If it were black on the back, and white on the front…you would not accept that as a black phone.

  21. Will this work on Verizon? Or will all Verizon users be left in the dark again?

    2. Confirmed by a Verizon representative that they will NOT be carrying this device, and SIMs will be rejected for those who ask for one.

I’ll be going to another wireless carrier when this phone is released.

      1. A Verizon representative?? Pfft. Most Verizon representatives (as in the employees in the stores) don’t know jack squat about stuff like this. They don’t even know a lot about the phones they have on hand, much less having inside info on a phone that doesn’t even technically exist yet.

The Verge posted an update that band 13 got FCC approval for the Nexus 5, which is Verizon’s LTE band:

        http://www.theverge.com/2013/9/12/4723138/lg-nexus-5-photo-details-revealed-in-fcc-filing
“Update: Leaks so far suggest there will be at least two different Nexus 5 models. The model leaked last week (called LG-D820) had wireless radios that could support AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile LTE. The Nexus 5 photos above are part of a separate, updated filing for the LG G2 (LG-VS980), which mention support for LTE band 13, which is used by Verizon in the US.”

But I’ll wait until it’s official one way or the other before getting too excited.

  22. I like this nexus panda :)

  23. I wish they had the moto x maker feature. that way we can create our own colors

  24. If they offered a 64GB version, I would get one.

  25. I like how the navigation buttons are on the screen instead of being their own little section so as to not take away from the screen size

  26. I have it on good authority that rumors really suck.

To clarify: leaks are awesome. Rumors and speculation, not so much.

  27. Finally the date. I was looking forward to it! Can’t wait to upgrade my current nexus4, I’m sure this will be ever more amazing! My phone is basically flawless and quite new, but I do like changing my gadgets as soon as something new comes out and I couldn’t resist to a brand new Nexus. I’m also starting adding my products on a new site, unioncy.com, to manage better the money I invest on tech and this is working pretty fine so far.

  28. Why can’t they do white the right way and make the wrong white too?! Is it too hard to ask for the front to be white too. It just looks like LG is being lazy.

    1. I think it’s just a Google thing. Remember the white Galaxy Nexus? It wasn’t all-white either.

  29. Never understood why they make the back white and the front black. If you use a case it looks like a black phone. They need to start making the back and front white!

  30. white “tech gadgets” are just the umpteenth Apple “innovations” I despise with a passion…

    1. Totally Agree, I used to have this beauty!

      1. Another thing which I guess is attributed to iphone is the shift to a squarer form factor… and when they were suing everyone for having square black phones the HTC Desire HD didn’t get mentioned much but actually it fitted the profile *months* before the iphone 4. Even the movement away from sweeping curves in design trends in my opinion was heavily influenced by android and its’ retro-futurist vibes: the original Droid/Milestone looked a lot like something from star wars. God I wanted that phone! Less Minority Report (iphone 3), more Bladerunner (see: nexus).

        1. Yep, that’s why I put “innovations” between quotation marks :)
Almost every Apple “innovation” is someone else’ idea/invention/prior implementation which the ignorant masses “magically” come to know and *appreciate* only when Apple does it… And everybody thinks (misled into that belief by Apple itself) that it’s Apple that “invented” it!!

          1. Yeah, to be fair the same goes for all ‘innovations’ but at least some organisations (not necessarily google most of the time) acknowledge things as a communal effort.

          2. Very true but as you say they don’t try to mislead the masses into thinking that it’s THEM to have done it first like Apple does incessantly at their keynotes, their ads and so on… They really hammer (helped by the so called “tech press”, especially American) this false message and it produces results…
Jobs was the first ever CEO I know of to come out on stage with “…and we have patented the hell out of it” or some other such thing… Apple COPY and “get inspiration” from others just like all the others do but they have always been the hypocritical ones to sue others at the drop of an hat… See also Jobs who have always poached employees from other firms and got incensed when someone was poached away from Apple… Scr*w them and the HW and SW junk they make.

          3. Yeah, they are very different companies though. I feel like apple is still a hardware and software company as it ever has been… Google seems to me to be dealing in something entirely different: data, behaviour analysis, automation, ‘viral’ commerce etc. I can’t bring myself to jump to their defence because as an entity (not necessarily the people in it) it’s still young compared to apple… if they were going to be uber-evil villains, I’m not sure if they’d do it in such an old fashioned way. In some ways ‘Scr*w them all’, I’m in it for the people who work on these ideas and technologies: the companies are just a way of those people being able to do it for a living.

Also: pretty, pretty, adaptable, rootable, moddable, android, pretty!

          4. I agree on pretty much everything. To me, though, Apple’s hardware and software philosophy is the ONE I really hate the guts of so the ONE big company I greatly despise is Apple and no one else. They really are leading the market down all the wrong paths (at least wrong to me, a knowledgeable poweruser). Soldered/glued everything, proprietary everything down to the very screws, no removable/expandable anything, the most limited and DUMBED DOWN software and so on and on.
The others, I just buy their products when they suit my needs… At the moment, and in the smartphone/tablet arenas, that means I am buying Samsung hardware and Google software. I am no fanboy, I buy whatever on the market is at the moment the best (or least bad) for me. Always have, always will.

          5. Yeah I’m down with all of that. Especially with the stuff we’re talking about… definitely. If android didn’t have to compete on their terms we’d probably see a lot less gluing down, dumbing down and patenting down on the android side of things. :(

      2. Oooh, I had never even seen this one, 1988!!

    2. You share my passion :)
