Samsung seems to be coming to the table with yet another flip phone model that looks just like the Galaxy Golden and Galaxy Hennessy models that have already been made official. The device is being called the SM-W2014, and will come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2GB of RAM, a 13 megapixel rear camera, a 2 megapixel front camera, two 3.67-inch WVGA Super AMOLED displays, and more.

This slick looking device will apparently launch with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, and Samsung’s TouchWiz will undoubtedly make an appearance (though we don’t expect it to house nearly the same amount of features that devices like the Note 3 and S4 do).

Samsung has been one of the more adventurous OEMs as of late when it comes to new smartphones and gadgets. It was just yesterday that the company officially announced the Samsung Galaxy ROUND, a smartphone with a curved design. Curved designs are nothing new, but the curve on that particular device is quite interesting — it’s horizontal instead of vertical.

With that, we’re likely to see the SM-W2014 pass us by as Samsung likely won’t be launching this thing outside of a few Asian markets. Still, that’s a lot of power in such a classic and small form factor. Find images of it above.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

Samsung Galaxy Round officially announced: curved 5.7-inch OLED 1080p display, 3GB of RAM, and more

  1. Next week they’ll lunch a curved flip phone.

    1. both sides will be curved opposite. the galaxy S Tube

      1. Don’t go giving them ideas ;)

      2. don’t forget the fingerprint scanner

        1. Why the fingerprint scanner? Why not a retina scanner?

      3. Galaxy S Tube with anal scanner

        1. I could use a good prostate check.

          1. We are Samsung …We Snapdragon your ass!

    2. made out of gold

  2. I feel that they’re just trying out a lot of new things some might sound stupid, but i respect that they’re giving different ideas a shot….(Htc maybe taking a risk wouldn’t hurt your guys)

    1. they did take risk, rememebr CHACHA, and HTC first, them two facebook dedicated phones that flopped, the only reason samsung can do this is because this risk wont event put a dent in samsung’s pocket even if it flops. WHY? because samsung was already a giant in the tech world before smart phones. they can afford to do this type of stuff and not worry

  3. I am so getting this….. for my grandma.

  4. Even though I like this phone, I cannot justify a smartphone having a t9 keyboard. It’s such a waste of space! Either QWERTY or nothing, in my opinion.
If only it was just that top part of the phone..[sigh] I’d kill for an Android handset with good specs, last OS, and THAT small screen and overall size.

    1. I would think it flips all the way back so that you can hold in landscape mode and type like on slate phones – so best of both. 3.7″ screen is bigger than initial iPhone and was standard for first Android phones. There’s a place for it.

      1. the outside screen is also full size, so no need to flip it open.

  5. Even though a lot of us would never get this phone, there is a market for it. My wife and mom refuse to get a smartphone unless it’s a flip phone since that is what they currently own. So until this get sold in the US, they’re sticking to their dumbphones.

    1. Nothing beats the battery life of a dumbphone. If they made a small dumbphone with LTE and WiFi or BT tethering, I’d jump right on it. I’d even buy a 7″ tablet to go with my 10″ tablet, but keep the phone functionality to just making and receiving calls/SMS, tethering and being alive for a week with no charge.

  6. It’s good to see people still making these, I know way too many people who refuse to buy a smartphone. ” it’s too expensive ” ” I don’t need that ” or my fav.. I get the occasional ” those give you cancer! “

  7. So apparently Samsung is using the method of we have so much money that we’re going to make everything possible and see what sticks. Must be nice.

    1. But they are not making everything possible. They aren’t making the qwerty with trackball (think G1) that I want…

      1. I miss the trackball

  8. They can’t make a qwerty phone but they can make this??

  9. A flip phone with a snapdragon 800……Holly molly. Technology has come a longggg way.

  10. Too bad they won’t sell it for less than $600. Could be a huge hit with the older bunch, a cross between modern and rustic.
And you could also dramatically end a call again lol

  11. I’d get this device over the Galaxy Round if I had to choose.
