NVIDIA couldn’t get the SHIELD gaming handheld out as soon as it wanted to, but the company is giving some lucky users on either coast of the country a chance to play with the exciting device before it lands at retail this summer.
Folks in the San Francisco and New York areas can get their excited little paws on the device in select movie theaters on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through August. There are only a couple of locations to check it out in each city:
- Garden State 16 – 1 Garden State Plaza, Paramus, New Jersey
- New Roc Stadium 18 – 33 Lecount Place, New Rochelle, New York
- Cupertino 16 – 10123 North Wolfe Road, Cupertino, California
- Mercado 20 – 3111 Mission College Boulevard., Santa Clara, California
Remember, this only goes on through August so if you’re eager to give SHIELD a try be sure to make these particular theaters your next step for the next big summer film you’re anticipating. Anyone out there looking to take advantage of the opportunity?

Santa Clara & Cupertino are in San Jose’s vicinity, not SF.
That they are, but NVIDIA said “San Francisco Bay Area” in regards to those 2 locations so I’m just echoing their words.
An expensive handheld that plays Freemium games. Awesome. *sarcasm*
An expensive handheld that plays just about every video game ever made from the late 70’s to the mid 90’s.
Played with it at Cupertino. The screen is gorgeous. Glad they put money in that part. Feels pretty good in my small hands. Not to heavy.
Still too damn expensive might as well buy the PSVITA
