7-inch ASUS MeMo Pad now available for $150

ASUS’ latest entry into the sub-$200 tablet market is now available for purchase. Not quite as powerful as the ASUS-made Nexus 7, the MeMo Pad comes in $50 cheaper. For $150 you get a 7-inch tablet with a single-core 1GHz CPU, 1GB RAM, and 1MP front-facing camera. The price also scores 16GB of internal storage.

An Android 4.1 device, the MeMo Pad is like a budget version of the budget tablet is borrows heavily from in terms of design. It isn’t quite a Nexus 7 (and will be even less so if rumors of a new version of the Google-branded tablet pan out), but has plenty going for it considering the price.

  3. I’d spend the extra $50 and get a Nexus 7. Plus you can find Nexus 7 tablets discounted around the web, which further narrows the gap.

C’mon, quad-core CPU versus single-core, WXGA (1280×800) versus WSVGA (1024×600), GPS versus no GPS, guaranteed updates directly from Google for a long time versus a questionable update schedule. Seems like a no-brainer to me. This tablet should be $99 to $129, at most. They’d probably sell fast at that price point.

  4. Why flood the market with crappie when a new version of the nexus 7 is on the horizon. Only way this would sell if it was $120 or less

  5. Nexus 7 is a way better deal, enough said.
