US Cellular rolls out unlimited 4G LTE data plan

Smaller wireless providers have to do what it takes to to stay competitive in a market with many options. For some, this has meant mergers. Others have opted to cut service pricing to lure in a few extra subscribers. US Cellular is doing their best to stay relevant by introducing a new unlimited 4G LTE data option.

The plan starts at $40 with an option to add data tethering for $20 more per month, a limited-time offer for customers residing in any of US Cellular’s 4G markets. The carrier aims to have 58 percent of its subscriber base covered with LTE by the end of the year.

In order to take advantage of the new 4G data pricing, US cellular is offering a selection of handsets with a $100 instant rebate, including the Samsung Galaxy S3. They are also offering a free Samsung LTE hotspot along with the purchase of any smartphone or tablet.

  1. Congratulations to U.S. Cellular customers!!! It’s good to have LTE that you can ACTUALLY USE and not be limited to a measly 3-4GB’s/mo!

I have unlimited LTE with Verizon.

    1. I am the same way. I was considering this until I saw that it was only for 24 months. Verizon sucks in many parts of Kansas and US Cellular dominates.

  2. YES THAT’S DEFINITELY THE TRUTH..SO SICK OF SPRINT

  3. This is a sign of the times. It reminds me of airfare wares. Cellular companies can’t keep getting away with gouging customers with data fees. Data usage should be getting cheaper, not more expensive. There’s going to be a lot of new Nexus 4 8GB phone users. Many will need to store their music on the cloud and many will need to stream movies and other content or there won’t be enough room on these phones to store the 8MB photos and 1080P video they are taking at the moment. So either some of these users will get a surprise when they start more easily exceeding their data plans or carriers will realize this and drop prices on unlimited data plans to compete with the likes of US Cellular and others.

  4. There’s a catch though. It’s only unlimited for 24 months. I thought this was great until I saw it was only for 24 months plus I have to be in one of the 46 markets that have 4g. It goes until January 31, 2013 I believe so we will see.

    PCMAG:

Those who sign up will get unlimited 4G LTE data for 24 months; after that, they’ll have to select another data plan.
