Huawei MediaPad receives Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

7

Despite being available for close to half a year, not many devices have received Ice Cream Sandwich. Another device was added to the somewhat exclusive club today, though, as Huawei brought the goods to their 7 inch MediaPad tablet. This 330MB update isn’t available over-the-air so you’ll have to download software to your PC to apply it. T-Mobile users need not apply. [via Liliputing]

  1. How terribly frustrating this is to read as the owner of a T-Mobile Springboard.

    1. Hopefully it means it will be coming to T-Mobile’s Springboard soon. How have you liked the tablet? I thought it looked great from my limited time with it…

  2. Have you checked cyanogen or xda?

  3. Loved the form factory when I played with the Springboard but they price was way too expensive for the non contract price.  Hopefully Google will come to the rescue soon.

  4. It’s a good tablet that feels and looks high end. My problems are all with the software. Lots of crashes.

  5. I had a T-Mobile Springboard and used the update. I now have a Huawei Mediapad with ICS sweet. Cannot confirm if the 4G works because I had a 30 day contract and let it expire.

ICS makes the Springboard much much better. Quicker and more responsive.

    1. It was worth it just to get rid of that annoying T-Mobile jingle on boot up.
