Google Play Store 3.4.7 Fixes Problems on Motorola Devices

10

Google’s update to the Android market – which effectively renamed it to Play Store after Google’s renaming of their apps, music, books and movies downloading service – didn’t play too nice with all of the devices out there. Motorola users in particular have had to deal with an issue causing their shortcut to break. If you thought Google would go very long without fixing it, you’re thankfully mistaken.

An update has been pushed to the app – version 3.4.7 – to fix these very issues, and those who were affected are reporting success. The Play Store will update on its own, but if you haven’t pulled it down yet and don’t want to wait for Google to push it to you, a download link has been made available. Install this .APK as you would any third-party app to get started. [via XDAthanks Rick!]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Yep. :) Mine is fixed.  Thanks El Goog! You don’t have to wait for it to be pushed to you. You can just click the settings button, go to Manage Apps, Go to Google Play Store, click Clear Data, then go back to your home screen & launch the Play Store.

  2. Stupid name. It makes me think of Sony and Xperia rather than Android and Google.

  3. Is it just me or does the new logo and look feel very Sony-esque

    1. Sounds Sony-esque as well, doesn’t it?

  4. Here we go, Google already started favoring Motorola…tsk tsk tsk.

    1. Is it favoritism if it is _broken_ for only one OEM?

      1. I guess I should have inserted a smiley face. I was kidding.

    2. Seriously? The Market, excuse me “Play Store”, shortcut is *broken* on only one manufacturer’s phones (Motorola), and you call it “favoritism”? If you owned a Motorola phone, you’d be whining and complaining about this issue as if it were your god given right, and the word “favoritism” would never pop into that little head of yours… tsk tsk tsk.

      1. I was actually kidding. haha.

  5. I have the galaxy nexus and mine still says market. Version 3.4.4. Not complaining just wondering why mine hasn’t updated yet.
