Google Maps Get a Quick Bug Fixing Update

13

Google has issued a minor update to Google Maps. You’re looking for version 6.1.1 and the changelog only mentions “fixes for bugs on tablets and phones.” One user who has noticed a “phone” issue (calling a place from within Google maps) says it has since been fixed:

It would not transfer the phone number when you clicked on the phone button of a search result or on the actual number in the search result page.

While I haven’t noticed that bug or many in general, it’s good to know that Google’s making sure everything is squeaky clean between major updates. Find the update in the Android market. [via Android Central]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. I haven’t updated since 4.7 because of numerous issues

      1. Yes, yes I am. Thanks for recognizing.

  2. updated. still doesn’t fix my GPS signal issue on my gnex. anybody have ideas?

(running CM9 Kang with custom kernel, but no custom radios)

    1. cm9 is still in alpha. its prolly gonna be a while before everything works as it should. it was a very long time before gps worked as it should on the original evo on CM7.

    2. There is basically no need to root and install a custom ROM on a Galaxy Nexus android phone.

especially if doing so breaks the GPS !

      1. there is basically no need for your comment.

i get 40 hours of battery life with customizations and regulary usage. Re-read my comment >> “issue.” My GPS is not broken.

I was also having the same issue on the stock ROM.

        1. Im not trying to start anything, I’m really not, but I would like to see proof of your 40 hour claim, please.

          1. no prob. I’ll post back here screenshot sunday night. Right now I’m about 18 hours at 60% batt. I would give you screenshot now of current drain, but too lazy to go grab phone in other room. Lol.

          2. my phone made it to monday morning. so i have a new battery record now. :)

i would’ve tested it all the way out to complete discharge, but i need it for work today.

          3. Impressive…

But wait, my Sensation will get about 10-12 hrs *maybe* with an anker battery and HEAVY use… But out of curiosity, when I got home from work tonight, I checked my wife’s phone, which is set up pretty much the same as mine, only she doesnt use it nearly as much, and hers was showing 2 days and twenty some minutes with 17% left! So I guess heavy users are still left carrying spare batteries or extra chargers 0_o

  3. Google Maps updates seem to take forever (on a phone) or are inordinately huge.  As a result I’ve turned off the auto update for it after this last one.

  4. Apart from it’s size (which strains my good ol’ Nexus One), I am deeply impressed with Google Maps and their development team.  I hope they keep on getting it right.
