Combine Android With Playstation Slim and What Do You Get? Yinlips Smart Game Player

13

If you wanted to get your Android gaming on but the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play was a little too “official” for you… then check out Yinlips YDPG18! It’ essentially an Android device that takes more than a little inspiration from the Playstation Slim (or Vita minus the extra analog stick) and comes to us from courtesy of (where else) China.

This knock-off features a sizable 5-inch display, single-core (but still pretty decent) Cortex-A9 processor, gyro sensor, rear and front facing cameras and comes in a variety of colors. What you are looking at right in front of you is simultaneously Android’s greatest strength (its ability to run on any device) and it’s greatest weakness (its ability to be ported to any device). Still, if I saw this at the swap meet for like, I don’t know — $150. I’d probably pick one up.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

    Single core chip – Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. But it’s a cortex a-9.
EDIT: With a Mali-400 GPU, no less! (sgsII GPU)

One crucial detail was left off, capacitive or resistive?

      1. True, very nice single-core chip, but it still can’t hold a candle to even the Tegra 2

Forgot about the touch screen, but that is a deal breaker (90% chance its resistive)

      2. Why does that matter? Do you think you’d be touching the screen a lot with a phone lyk this? If it’s Android, shouldn’t be Capacitve since a lot of apps require touch screen? Are there any Resistive Android Phones? I should probably check. :P

  3. DAMN time to make pandora batteriesssss

  4. you lost me at “single core”

      1. $120 = Brilliant for the included GPU, That GPU puts this close to on par with the real PSVita.

        Android 2.2 OS = :(

Mali 400 GPU = :o  WOW! VERY NICE!!!!! SGSII GPU for those interested

Emulates: NES, SNES, GB/GBC/GBA, Mega Drive, MAME, N64, PSX, Flash 10.X games :)

  5. Thanks for the Video, this looks awesome! Single Core? would be awesome if it came with a PSP emulator.

  6. If it had tegra 2 I’d pay $100 for it….
    Maybe

  7. i would buy it if it had a dual core and a higher res screen
