Happy Birdday! Angry Birds Officially Turns 2 – New Update Coming Soon To Android

7

Guess they really meant it when they said time flies when you’re having fun because it’s officially been 2 years since Angry Birds exploded onto the mobile scene with their physics-based puzzle game. With over 500 million downloads, Rovio wanted to celebrate their 2nd “Birdday” with a spiffy new update to the original game. So what does Rovio have planned?

As you probably guessed, there will be 15 all new birthday themed levels to fling those testy little birds through and along with those levels, comes the addition of all new achievements for those of you that like the added challenge of completing a level 100%. The best part about the new Birdday update? All the original levels will come fully unlocked allowing players to go back and play old favorites, or finally advanced past one they were stuck on.

Looking ahead to 2012, we can only guess where Rovio will take their beloved franchise from here. There’s been rumors of a cart-based racer, ala Mario Kart or even a “Greedy Pigs spin-off allowing players to get the other side of the story. While some of you are all “Angry-birds-ed out,” it’s one of the few games I continue to come back to, time and time again. The new Birdday update should hit the Android Market sometime next week.
