Not quite. He says “you all” not “ya’ll”. You can clearly hear him enunciate the two words.
I disagree, I heard ya’ll. Either way, they should change these types of things to first e-mail rather than comment. First of all, the first commenter was on a guest account so how are they going to know who was really first? Secondly, Tyler smith edited his dj quote to match mine after i mentioned that i mentioned that i was first to quote the dj right. Let’s just let the judges decide.
What any of us heard and what they actually said could be up for debate. I agree it will be up to the judges to decide. As for those that edited their posts, I’d like to think that those judging the contest will have access to this information and see that some earlier posts were indeed edited. I can vouch for your answer using “ya’ll” was first.
The question is not what you heard, but what he actually said. That is what is up for debate.
I think what’s key is that I was first to notice that the dj was implying for yall to get “us”(as in himself) a samsung phone. He wasn’t telling the audience to go and get themselves a phone. Anyway, like I said, its up to the judges and if I lose, at least i’ll have the chance to win on another day
I edited my post because when I first entered it I had a typo due to rushing to be the first to comment. I wasn’t trying to “match” yours. If you see a couple minutes later I commented with the yall in there because I checked my comment and saw that I typed the wrong thing.
It won’t let me delete my comments so I just edited this one to read what I meant to put. I didn’t read your comment until just now so don’t say I copied it when you’re just making assumptions.
With all that said, this first-to-comment style contest system is flawed and needs to be changed.

All I’m saying is, don’t accuse me of copying your comment when I didn’t. I messed up what I typed and then corrected it. Didn’t read anything from MttFrog13 until just now. Why would I care what your comment says, and why would I copy it? The only way to know the correct answer is to hear it in the video. So why would I copy you and assume you heard it correctly?

My point is that its gonna be a little misleading when you try to edit a comment in a competition like this. What if everyone just went and edited their comments as they pleased? All I know is that a few minutes went by, 5 – 10 minutes, and then your dj quote changed to be exactly as mine. Before, it did not say ya’ll or “us”. IF the exact phrasing of the quote was something the editors would consider, and mine was right, it would be in fact WRONG if you won.
That said, all of this is getting really sloppy and I really hope they make the next competition like this an email submission so that the times that answers are submitted is more clear and the original answers submitted are clear. I don’t have anything else to say about this. With the debate over this getting so sketchy, phandroid will probably give the prize to knowname or alabama politics.

I’m going to show you how the fast people are getting there answer in so fast.
“I saved my spot with a random statement ^^^ then came back 5 minutes later and edited my post. Kept me in the same position and allowed me to find the right answer. I’m SHOCKED Phandroid isn’t noticing this and didn’t think of it in advance.
Perhaps, unless they are aware and are checking the comments as they come in to get the first. I wasn’t far behind the first commenters and had a couple of delays(had to log in as haven’t commented before and listened to the quote a few times to try to get it) so I don’t think it was unrealistic for those ahead of me.
I did notice that someone edited their dj quotes to match mine. I can’t be sure if they just made a placeholder comment tho. I’ll tell u how i got my comment in so fast. I locked one window to the left side of my screen, locked a normal browser to the right to use while i waited. On the left browser i loaded phandroid.com and used the google chrome extension “auto-reload”, set it to refresh every 10 seconds and waited until i saw the post. When i saw the post, since they said video i went to youtube and searched phandroid’s profile for “launch”. Saw the SGS lauch and the title of the song. I skipped towards the end and found out what the dj said. Not that hard really…

I kinda find these contests unfair. Call me a whiny bitch but to be honest, being the fastest person to get here and answer trivia questions is just not cool. You have many loyal readers of your site like myself that can’t always get to the site at the drop of a hat and be involved. I feel it excludes a ton of readers.

no I agree but once again it really takes a lot of loyal readers out of the mix. All giveaways should be random. Do a cutoff time take all the right answers and draw. That way ifa reader could get to the post right away they still have a shot at getting the correct answer and still a chance to win.
I’m also upset that since doing the giveaways on the site there has been no other content. That’s the main purpose that I come to this site. There I go complaining again….lol
