Galaxy S II Skyrocket Update to Android 2.3.6 Pushing Now

7

The Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket is receiving an update today to Android 2.3.6, a version which Google initially pushed to correct a Google voice search bug and other minor issues. It isn’t clear if AT&T and Samsung have added in any new elements along with the update, though we expect a few under-the-hood elements have been addressed. If you are among those calling the LTE device your own, you can pull the update by navigating to ‘Software update’ under the Settings menu.

  1. w00t. Installing now. Hopefully Google Voice will work after the update … sigh.

    1. So, what’s the verdict? Does it? I’m very likely to purchase this phone tomorrow, and I love my Google Voice!

    2. What was wrong with Google Voice? I had mine working with 2.3.5 :D

  2. Anyone have the OTA for download? I keep getting something interfered with the process after reboot

  3. Does anyone know if there will ever be an update to help with the battery life issue?

    1. I simply turned off automatic background sync and wifi when I’m not using it…that did it for me.  I haven’t noticed leaving bluetooth on to cause any additional drain.  I also stopped clearing out my ram as I was worried that I was killing a needed battery management feature that was causing the wifi issue.  I now seem to be getting a pretty respectable life out of the battery.

      1. We need some sort of LTE switch, so if we’re not in an area then our phone isn’t searching for signal..
