Toshiba’s Recently Leaked Ultra Slim Tablet To Be Called The Excite?

AndroidPolice scored a tip from one of their readers on some recent trademark filings that could give us a name to go along with today’s leak on Toshiba’s upcoming ultra slim, super sexy Android tablet. According to the filings, the tablet could be called the Toshiba Excite although we don’t really have anything that specifically pegs the new tablet to this name so I guess you could call it more of a hunch.

Toshiba’s last effort at an Android Honeycomb tablet fell completely flat with me. It’s overall massively thick size made me feel like it was some kind of ruggedized tab or something manufactured by Nerf. I think this new tablet design finally hits the mark. What do you guys think? Oh – and did anyone actually buy the Thrive?

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. This Excites me. The Thrive was just way to big.

  2. Got one for my birthday a couple of weeks ago and love it. With full size SD card slot, full usb and replaceable battery, it’s far more practical than pretty. That’s pretty mch the point of having a tablet for me, substance over style any day.

    1. completely agree. said it before & i’ll say it again–who in the world owned a micro HDMI before a full size HDMI? screw adapters. the size of it is an easy trade off for the full size ports of the Thrive.

  3. The Thrive was just a case of too little too late for me. I ended up getting a Xoom because I just had no idea when the Thrive was coming out and I needed a tablet. I agree with Scott completely. Function is more important than form in my eyes, and if Toshiba had just been about 3 months earlier, I would be a Thrive owner instead of a Xoom owner.

  4. I didn’t buy one BUT I would’ve and still might once I get the money. The Thrive is huge, no question about that BUT it has everything you would want in a tablet and then some. USB, HDMI and SD card… I LOVE IT!!!!

  5. Got the Thrive on first day released and took it back less than 2 weeks later and swapped for a Samsung Galaxy Tab which I’ve really enjoyed. Thrive way too bulky and heavy and discovered I didn’t really care that much about the external ports. But if the Excite is more along the lines of the Galaxy in size and weight and you get the ports and memory card slot I’d sure think about getting it.
