It all sounded so promising the other day – the DROID Incredible’s Gingerbread update PDF showed up on Verizon’s servers and it looked like we could be getting a release within a couple of weeks. Turns out you’ll need to bottle your excitement up a bit longer because the update has reportedly been delayed.
A bug or two may have popped up in the final QA process and those will need to be taken care of before they can issue the update to users. Considering we didn’t have a solid date to begin with, I can’t say this delay stings.
Whatever issues popped up might be able to be fixed in a couple of days and a timely release could still be in store, but that’s just wishful thinking. I suggest all of you just sit tight and keep busy with something until Verizon sorts this thing out. [Verizon via AndroidForums.com]
Hey, at least they’re A) still working on it, and B) not going to push it out regardless of bugs!
What? I can’t wait another minute longer to get my Verizon Navigator working over wi-fi!
The only real shame here is that it means it will be longer before HTC releases its Gingerbread kernel source code so I’ll still be waiting for 720p video recording.
This phone is simple enough to root that if you’re really itching for gingerbread, you ought to root and flash CM7 or MIUI – your battery life will thank you
I got completely fed up with waiting for Verizon to turn out a Gingerbread update for the Incredible; by the time they are ready to push it, everyone else will be on Ice Cream. I’ve gone the CM 7.0.3 route and other than missing the Sense keyboard’s voice feature, it’s been pretty awesome.
vcard… lol
Agreed…. if you are still rocking this phone, and HAVEN’T rooted (to CM7, hands down the best), you are missing out.
This reminds me of waiting for My Htc Hero to update to Eclair lol, took forever. I recommend anybody waiting for the Gingerbread update to just learn to root the phone and Go with CM7, you’ll be a much happier person lol
I just got an update notification from verizon, and it’s almost done installing… wondering if this is it.
was it it?
Finally! Wonder what took so long? My DInc has been a great phone for over a year now, and no complaints with it, but I’m afraid HTC’s OTA Gingerbread update may not arrive before I upgrade to 4G and the Moto Droid Bionic in a few weeks. Progress waits on no one…
