Minutes ago Google published a post to their Mobile Blog detailing an update to the Search app for Android devices. For whatever reason, the post has since been pulled, but not before Phandroid reader and screen-cap ninja Art preserved a copy to share with the rest of us. The new Google Search app features an updated interface simplified for use and more in line stylistically with Android Gingerbread and Honeycomb. Search suggestions are now grouped by type — web searches appearing first — and country-specific suggestions and results are now offered depending on location. You can delete history items with a long press or edit them before searching by tapping the arrow next to the item in the drop-down.
The update will be available for handsets running Android 2.2 or later, and should be hitting the Market any minute now. When it does, we will update this post with a link.
[Thanks, Art!]
Wow!!! Finally Google will start putting a little more of that Google Search Algorithm to good use in the Android Market. Who would have thought of that?
This doesn’t have anything to do with the android marketplace.
Damn!!! You have failed me for the last time…. Google

Ironically, Google Reader allows you to read articles that have been deleted, haha.
I think Google is prepping all their apps to reach the Ice Cream Sandwich look (Android 4.0) that’s coming in winter.
Nice :-) Looks great!
anyone know if it’s available yet?
Sick! Looks just like the new grey-ish theme of the new Android Market. Some people may not like this though.. :p
Maybe they call fix the freaking voice search bug on nexus s first!
I like the new look. Considering my phone has a super amoled screen, having darker themes should save a tiny bit more in battery.
thats great, dark theme for my epic too saving battery life nice. and for some reason search freezes on ym stock epic, i either have to wait 10 seconds for it to catch back up to speed , or re-open the app. hopefully this update fixes that
I hope it starts up faster than the current one. Takes 4 seconds to finish loading on my phone.
Finally, Google has taken action to improve search functionality
