Some 5,000 of you folks out there with this limited edition of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 – the one we got at Google I/O this past May – might want to check the Google servers for an update as we’re getting tons of reports that it’s now available. Android 3.1 was announced the first day Google I/O commenced. It brought with it some great features for developers and users alike, but at the time only those with a Motorola XOOM were blessed with a chance to use it. Now, after the Tab 10.1 has hit retail stores, more of you are able to get in on the fun. If you need a quick recap of the 3.1 features important to you, be sure to read here. [Thanks to all who sent this in!]
What happened to giving this away?
Yes, I was just thinking that.
It was given away. Winner was announced a few newsletters back.
Has anyone been able to get this update to apply successfully? I’ve tried updating OTA and it won’t connect to Kies.
UPDATE: Got it to apply OTA. Had to disable my screen unlock pattern and charge a bit. It would not apply update while plugged in to charger, either.
Yeah, it has to be unplugged for some reason.
no google movies app yet though
My update worked fine, had to set up a Samsung account. I wasn’t plugged in.
QUESTION – Anyone have Google Books working on their IO TAB? I side loaded the phone version, but I want the 3d page turning shown on the Xoom here –

Google Books is not found in the tablet Market, and when I try using the web based market I can add Google Books to other devices but not the GT-P7510, it is greyed out and mousing over it shows a popup – “This item not compatible with your device”
What the heck?
Nevermind. Even though it says its incompatible, I do have the new 3D books app in my apps, must have happened when I did the 3.1 update.
Got the update, looks nice. Haven’t had a chance to play with it much though. I love the new lock screen – WAY easier to see than the old one.
