We’re going through the big, red motions again as more and more evidence continues to build up surrounding yet another high profile device launch. The Incredible 2 is the culprit again and this time it seems Verizon accidentally outed it on their own site. We’ve long known this thing to exist, of course, but you have to wonder just how close to launch we really are. April 28th seems to be quite the popular date, but it’s totally possible we could see it sooner. (Verizon has a habit of announcing a device’s sequel a couple of days before launching it, ala the DROID 2 fiasco.) Anyone hoping we see an official announcement tomorrow? [via Droid-Life]
It is so hard to make a decision about this phone. VZW is having battery issues with LTE phones, but the network will be up almost everywhere by 2013. If I sign a new 2-year and get this phone, I feel like it will be outdated so quickly. And then you have Samsung claiming a 2GHz phone next year! Arg.
What does everyone else think about this phone?
Going to pass this one up, for the lack of a dual core.
Otherwise, this phone is right where I want to be.
The Inc2 isn’t an LTE device, I thought. Either way, just turn off LTE when you don’t need it. 3G is more than fast enough for most simple web browsing. Flick it on for file downloads and games, back off when you’re done. Battery issues solved.
I’d also say VZW isn’t having battery issues. It’s more like people are expecting too small of a form factor with too much high end hardware. Until battery tech improves, we need to accept bulkier devices with higher capacity batteries. Sure, a 2700mAh battery gonna give your phone a fat ass, but if you want the hardware, that’s what you need. Battery tech has lagged behind hardware development. That’s all there is to it.
I agree Fred. Everyone seems to be waiting for the Bionic but I’m due for an upgrade (still using my Palm Centro) and am afraid to make a move. I still like a keyboard but thats another thing that seems to be vanishing in any of the upcoming lineup. You can still get a one-year contract up until May 2nd if you call in (even though it reads April 17th as being the last day they will still honor it so I was told by a rep), and go with a Certified Pre-Owned, then in one year you’ll have a better idea of what you want.
One-year contracts are over May 2 on all phones or certified pre-owned phones?
one year contracts ended yesterday, I thought.
Originally it was 4/17 but was told it would be honored until May 2nd. Depends who you talk to at VZW as it changes day to day, agent to agent. No more 1 year contracts for regular users.
One time…after my upgrade had sat there for a few months…I got a direct call from a VZW Rep who said I could get the exact same two-year pricing for a one-year contract. This was probably 6 months ago…but I can echo that it really depends on who you talk to. If you dig deep enough and raise enough cane, then you can get your way most times…haha! If I could pull of a one-year for this phone at the same two-year price, then I’d do it in a heartbeat.
Anyone think this phone will come out the 21st rather than 28th?
I’m planning on buying this phone, since the iPhone is only available with a two-year contract. I’m willing to pay a little bit more (around $350) to be able to upgrade in a year. I’m currently using a BlackBerry Curve 9330 that is functional, but outdated. I’m excited to get something new.
Did you *have* to post up a screenshot from the iPad? :[
If the DInc2 had a bigger screen, I’d jump all over it!
BIGGER SCREEN?!? I’ve heard 4in is big enough for most women ;-)
@Ris. Do you want an iPhone or a android? We can argue which is better, but really if you want an iPhone wait about 2 months for the new iPhone to come out. Then u can grab an iPhone4 off contract from eBay or something for under $350 and you don’t have to sign a contract. Personally, I rather have android
$99999.99 huh? Is it made of solid gold?
I feel as if I have never waiting for something for so long in my life. I’m all for a WP7 but I would much rather wait until it is as refined as Android. I’m not a big fan of 4g as of yet, or a dual core processor. They both are unnecessary in today’s standards and a huge drain on the battery. I would much rather use the tried and true 3G coverage on a great device. There are still a couple of hours before this thing has to be announced. Otherwise it’s another week of waiting. I have my fingers crossed!
