A quick note for those of you CyanogenMod fans out there. If you are into rooting your Android smartphone and CM is the mode for you, you might be happy to know CyanogenMod 7 has reached its second round of stable builds bringing Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread to several big handsets, including the HTC EVO 4G, which gains WiMAX support in this build. Also new are notification profiles and innumerable bug fixes.
You can get the latest version from ROM Manager or by visiting the Cyanogen site.

Can’t wait til I get home and try it now I can use 4g keep up the good work cm
Just FYI, Release Candidate 2 doesn’t mean stable. Even if in fact it probably is.
I was just looking at Cyanogens site. I did not see any
stables released yesterday, only a new release candidate.

cm-7.0.0-RC2
nearly all cm7 builds have been stable, at least for me. but there isnt any stable builds yet. they simply released RC2 for cm7. their is a huge difference between stable and RC, for those that dont know. RC is kinda like a beta
I’m not able to get visual voicemail working on my evo with CM7 RC1 or RC2. Can anyone help please? I’ve tried installing the sprint-vvm-5-1.1.0.48. The app shows up, but won’t connect to the sprint VM server.
I consider myself pretty tech savvy, but when it comes to flashing ROMs, I’m a total newbie. Thanks to UnrEVOked, I got my Evo rooted so I could install WiFi tether, but the awesomeness that Cyanogen appears to be evades me. I see loads of folks talking about the battery life (oh, how I long for a whole day on my Evo…)
Does anyone have a link to a point-by-point tutorial of how to flash a ROM? I’ve looked a few times and never found one. I want to know about all my apps (Kayak, Flickster, etc) and how I could bring them as well – maybe I can’t? Other various questions, too, of course. Thanks all!
@MT You are correct. They have not released the stable release for CM7 yet. RC2 is the one that is the latest. If all goes well, the stable release will be issued once they have addressed their bug list.
Yep RC is like a beta something they push out to get all the bugs out before they release the stable version correct?
I just want to know if the txt messaging bug has been fixed with 2.3.3. If not, no gingerbread for me.
@ndcart – what bug? I have not experienced any issues.
There is a know bug where all txt messages you send out are sent successfully, but you only recieve about 10-20% of incoming messages. Many users have seen this issue.
The nightly builds of CM7 have had WiMax integrated for the Evo for a couple weeks now.
The nightlies run beautifully, so i’ll be sticking with them instead of the RC’s.
the new RC2 breaks a few things i consider essential.
my home key for example.
There is a difference between a Beta and RC…
Hmm…normally RC means Release Candidate meaning no known issues and it should be renamed to CM7 official if no bugs are found during the RC process…
A Beta has known issues.
But maybe that’s not how they roll since there were no BETAs..
Have it on the MyTouch 4G with the only issue so far being that it started boot looping when I turned on anonymous statistics, other than that it seems quite stable.
@ Dom
Have to gone to xda? If not go to forums and look for the Evo forum. All questions you have should be available there. As far as keeping all of your current apps, I highly recommend Titanium Backup Pro. A few bucks is worth it. Once you back up all current apps, you can restore them once Rom is flashed.
A RC (release candidate) is just that, a candidate for release. If no major bugs are found in that candidate, it gets promoted to GA (general availability) or a Production release. It’s NOT a beta.
GSB 2.0 coming soon then? (Hell, it could be out already, I havent checked XDA yet today.)
I’m hoping GSB 2.0 will be out in a day or two =]
By far the best ROM I’ve been on
Cm 7 RC 2 wit 4g couldn’t be more happier but what is this gsb Rom you guys are talking about?
This breaks my wifi calling setup which works on the rc 1
