Amazon comes through in the clutch again! This time, they’ve thrown the HTC Desire S – a followup to the original Desire  that adds a front-facing camera and a new chipset – onto their website. You can pre-order it with them now and have it in your hands on April 18th, according to them. We’d already heard that a good amount of their devices would be coming within a month’s time, but it’s good to get some cold, hard facts. [Amazon UK, Thanks Ally!]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. I’m a huge desire fan but this years HTC devices do not impress me all that much. 1 ghz on this thing just like the original. The over all improvements are marginal over last years devices.

I’m not convinced this is any better then the Desire HD of last gen.

  2. Maybr the galaxy S2 will be your next phone…

  3. This processor is stable at speeds of 1.5GHz-1.9GHz when overclocked. Even at 1GHz, the performance is far superior. In terms of single-core processors, this is easily one of the best out there, if not the best.

  4. Can’t wait until the rom’s will be ported over to the desire.

  5. I already own an HTC Desire HD,so this is not for me.My next phone has to be dual core.Sorry HTC, but i needed something more powerful than ur present 1GHz powered phone line up

  6. HTC relys too much on Qualcomm.

They should at least experiment with Tegra.

  7. Yes, very disappointed by the line up.

    Where is the pyramid?

  8. Even Sony Ericsson’s new phones are better than HTC’s new ones. SE doesn’t have any dual core processors either, but they are very thin, have big batteries, great screen technology and excellent cameras.

  9. Wesley: you forgot crappy software. Love SE phones, but the customizations made to android is so crappy and slow, they kill the product. I would choose HTC over SE at any time when it comes to android.

Otherwise i agree. HTC lineup this year is nothing special.

  10. Exactly. UI is crap, update schedule unproven. And HTC’s unibody aluminum design looks better than anything SE has ever put out. Oh and the new HTC phones have 768MB of RAM

  11. The look is old I hate the look I say to make the look more cool looking

  12. Sony Ericsson Arc eats this fat Desire S.
