Look look what T-Mobile just tweeted…a new promo video for their upcoming G-Slate, a device that is sure to make the rounds here at CES before eventually coming to America’s largest “4G” network. They are calling it the first 4G Honeycomb tablet, which might be true in branding terms if it makes it to market before the recently announced Motorola Xoom gets its 4G upgrade, but Moto and VZW will have LTE while here we get HSPA+. Check it out in the video below:

And not much later T-Mo issued the formal press release. Here it is for your reading pleasure:

  1. hope they release a wifi only version before I get tempted by a competing product.

  2. Omg …….!!!!!

  3. Holy shit I’m going to have a heart attack with all this awesome news. I’m more happy that manufacturers are getting serious about stock android.

  4. I’m totally getting this.

  5. All LG did was slap their name all over the official Google Android 3.0 video. Lame.

  6. @anon- Exactly. I have no interest in getting another contract when I can tether my Nexus One.

  7. Hey they stole my G2 “G” feelsbadman. Looks Awesome! Android is growing •they grow up so fast :'(•

  8. Tmo had to say something. Since their event isn’t until tomorrow and all they have to show for today is the Cliq2…while verizon gets the Xoom & Bionic, ATT gets the Atrix4g…and samsungs shows off the black and 2x…tmo needed to respond with something. Being a T-mobile fan and employee I was starting to lose hope…the G Slate will keep my head up until tomorrow…hopefully they have a NEW announced phone to make up for the Cliq2. I’ve heard that we are getting the Optimus2x but I would like one more major player to bring something to T-mobile….HTC?????

  9. I would just like TMO do give me 2.2 for my freaking Slide, that they promised 4 months ago.

  10. innovative design? BS. looks like all the others. and it’s the same video as all the others!

  11. All i can say is, FUCK YOU KEVIN K. Stop putting tmobile’s 4G in quotes. It’s been officially recognized as 4g now you bitch. You clearly have something against tmo. AT&Toolbags is labeling their hspa+ as 4g and you guys areen putting their “4g” in quotes. If your ass wants to get technical then you better put quotes on at&ts, verizons, and sprints.

    ps. fuck you.

  12. Keller does have a point * shrugs*

But im excited about it. If it comes with a wifi version im all on it.

  13. Wifi version will come…just not a launch. You can always buy at full price and not be tied to Tmo (or any other carrier for that matter)

  14. “anger” management

  15. wow, keller’s so butthurt about a couple of quotes and a marketting BS word that he probably wont be able to sit for a week. way to go kevin, you meany. that said, i agree with picodroid. this did nothing for me as it was nothing more than the google video with “LG and TMO present…” tacked on to the beginning.

  16. This is great news..ill probably start saving up..it looks sexy! BUT damn iagree with Keller..stop putting quotes when you talk about tmobile…ITU has redefined 4G..stop being a hater!

  17. I agree with myg1. The itu redifined 4g verizon lte didn’t meet the old definition either. now both hspa+ and lte as verizon had it meet the definition. Stop putting quotes around 4g when talking about t mobile. It seems biased and is poor journalism. Out makes it look as of you haven’t heard the latest news in an industry you specialize in and makes you seem I ignorant, uninformed, biased, or some combo of them. All of which put a serious doing in your credibility

  18. I agree, quite with the digs at T-Mobile, their network is 4g. Don’t be a hater, Kevin.

  19. The more I think about this whole “4g” thing, the more angry I get about it. I would not tolerate this from a news paper or a tv reporter, so why am I tolerating it from a internet “news” source? This really has me considering going to other websites for my android news, and I have been a loyal reader who checks your site multiple times a day, every day (even weekends when you RARELY post new articles) for nearly a year and a half now. In the past few months, the “reporting” (and I use the term loosely) on phandroid has really gone down hill.

  20. i like how every manufacturer of an android device list the specs of what android can do and not really what the device can really do itself. is it going to be exactly like the Xoom? give us specs of the hardware. stop giving us software info that we already know every stock 3.0 tablet will have!! pretty please. :)

Bravo. My sentiments exactly, although you said it without being offensive as I, lol. Phandroid’s “reporting” has gone downhill for sure

  23. Wow are all of you really going to cry about TMO? There shit sucks anyway. The only people that have TMO are poor people lol. Man up get a job and afford some better shit bro’s

  24. @joker Lol troll…

  25. @joker Amen!! lol

  26. @Joker.

Are you serious right now? You obviously don’t work at tmobile and don’t have any clue about the people that have service with us here in the LA area. Get your facts straight before you open your hole. I make more money than you btw and i don’t even know how much you make. Your comment makes you seem retarded. Who do you have service with At&t?

  27. @chris9

    Douche.

  28. I only used TMO because: 1) I wanted a GSM carrier and 2) ATT service sucked in NJ while I was there. I had them for 2yrs.

  29. wow, excited for tmobile.

  30. If you read closely, they doent claim it to be the first 4g table. They say its the first from the 2 companies (tmobile and LG). But this tablet wont even matter to me if they sell it for more than $350 and/or with a contract (and being that its coming to a carrier, its going to have a contract)

  31. @Joker hit the nail on the head, ROFL
