Onkyo Can’t Wait For CES, Unveils 10.1″ Tablet

Now this is a pre-Honeycomb tablet that I can sink my teeth into. Onkyo just let loose the TA117; it will come in two OS models: Windows and Android.

The specifications on this device are fairly impressive, given what we’ve been working with so far in the tablet department:

  • NVIDIA Tegra 250 1GHz processor
  • WiFi
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • microSD slot
  • 2x USB slots
  • HDMI out
  • Front facing camera
  • 512MB DDR2 RAM
  • 8 or 16GB of internal storage
  • 10.1″ display
  • FroYo

There is no mention of price and for now it looks like Onkyo will only be offering this beauty in Japan.

If I bat my eyes pathetically enough, will Onkyo offer it stateside? Or at least send me one to ‘review’?

  1. Does this not look like the G Tablet from Viewsonic? Even the Specs look about the same?????

  2. pretty much identical to the Viewsonic G Tablet then? Not seeing much difference, and the photo looks the same.

  3. this looks/specs pretty much the same as the Viewsonic G Tablet, it even looks identical in every way…

  4. Sorry Onkyo…stick with A/V Receivers! I dont want a Denon o Yamaha tablet. These stupid, stupid companies need to stop making tablets just for the hell of it.

I better not see a damn Frigidaire Tablet or a Maytag Tablet. Stick with what you do best, NOT flooding the market!

  5. The picture is showing the Viewsonic gTablet

  6. Juicy.

  7. “I better not see a damn Frigidaire Tablet or a Maytag Tablet.” LMAO. I hear Tonka has a Jr. Tablet in the making in a joint venture with Lego.

  8. @Steven
    .
lol…I wasnt sure if this was the same Onkyo that made A/V receivers. (I got one by them btw…one or some of the HDMI ports crapped out on me…)
    .
Yea…we appreciate you wanting to try something different….but stick to what you know..focus on making better A/V receivers…

  9. Tablets r 4 teh gheyz. Buy an effin lappy.

  10. Why does anyone want a huge and heavy 10″ tablet? Netbooks are about the same size, weight, are far more useful, less expensive, and available now, everywhere.

  11. “Tablets r 4 teh gheyz. Buy an effin lappy.” couldnt have said it better. HAHAHA

  12. This is hilarious. I heard Home Depot is coming out with a tablet too so they could join the tablet bandwagon. LMAO
I dont see a point in buying any but if I was and i liked apple I would buy a ipad since I dont like Apple I would go with Samsung or something similar. Notion Ink does look very promising I have to say

  13. Like everyone else, to me this looks just like another. Rebranding of the Viewsonic G Tablet. (Which is much better since the last update which allows you to boot into stock rather than the tap-n-suck interface.

Viewsonic really blew it with the custom interface & poor marketing, because as you point out here the specs are great, but even though the have begun to fix their mistakes, nobody seems to be giving them a second thought.

  14. I don’t think tablets are gay.

  15. Onkyo makes great receivers jroc, I have had one from them for 10 years now and it’s still going strong. You, however, need to work on your grammar, … is Morse Code for S, it’s generally not used in sentences ;)

  16. Why Japan only?
I might actually bite on this…..
