By Sony’s just announced that their Google TVs will be available on Best Buy store shelves starting October 24th. They’ve stated that you can now pre-order at SonyStyle.com and will be available to you starting this weekend if you do decide to go that route. You’ll be able to purchase four models – 24, 32, 40, and 46 inches – just as we learned before, at $599, $799, $999, and $1,399 respectively. Don’t get confused reading the press release (below) where it states these are LED backlit: this doesn”t mean the panel itself is LED. Expect an LCD panel like many of you alluded to before. Sony’s also offering a Google TV-enabled Blu-Ray for $399.99. Note: LED Edge-lit means it uses the same backlighting method as traditional LCD TVs except with LEDs instead of Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps. LED Edge-lit displays have the advantage of being extremely thin and energy efficient, but picture quality doesn’t see much improvement.
LED BACK-lit displays have an LED matrix directly behind the screen. You get the same energy savings, and the picture quality is improved as well (due to better contrasts and uniform brightness).

Wouldn’t it be sweet if Sony could add a Google TV purchase pack for the ps3. That would make your ps3 essentially a Logitech revue box. I just might get the Logitech for Xmas if the ps3 option is non-existent
LED backlit displays also are referred to local dimming, and are superior to edgelit displays, but still can’t match the picture quality of plasma. IMHO.

Ah, crap, that Blu Ray player is exactly what I want… my wallet was previously comforted by the fact that it didn’t exist.
It says the Android market will be available in 2011. In the interim, can apps be sideloaded onto this TV at the present time, either by direct installation or by adb? The ability to install/test our applications directly determines when one of these will be purchased.
Needs 3d and I would be on it.
