In keeping with this morning’s HTC news, the phone manufacturer has finally got around to tossing the full specs and details on the T-Mobile G2 up on their website. This is about the most succinct and complete look we have had at the featured specs including an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM 7230 CPU, Android 2.2, 4GB ROM, 512MB of RAM, and a 3.7-inch WVGA touchscreen. Don’t forget the 5MP camera with autofocus and flash and the phone’s 1300mAh battery. Can you just feel your nubs gliding over those chunky G2 keys? The cool touch of aluminum construction? 1. AMOLED or SCLED?

  2. Assuming this is a rebranded Desire Z?

  3. Can somebody please give me a rough ESTIMATE on how this thing should hold up compare to a Nexus One for battery life?

  4. @ Simon……

I asked that in another post, but looking at the photos and HTC has the G2 now on their web site the very same day the announce the release of the Desire Z to me, makes it obvious……However, I could be wrong.

  5. yup but with more rom and 2.2 and no 720p recording

  6. NO BASHING TODAY!!

  7. @shiney specs on the HTC website have been up sense last week.

  8. Sense last week? Sense UI? What?

  9. I’ma wait and see what the My Touch HD looks like, and maybe see what the next one in the line up is.

  10. The difference is sence, bigger ram, and 720p recording but even at that I personally prefer vanilla over sence but the ram in the desire z is pretty awesome… can you say 70fps?

  11. Very nice hardware. I personally think HTC sense is a better experience than plain vanilla android. Thats MY opinion i know the majority of phandroids disagree. Anyway, this is a rock solid device. I cant wait for Verizon’s response to the G2 =]

  12. Verizon response to G2? G2 with BING only… Bingo!

  13. @coolMANDINGO: LoL I’m stunned.

  14. Just read the specs on HTC’s site. This phone is going to weigh 1/2 ounce more than the old G1! Granted, 6 oz. is not heavy, but it’s noticeable in one’s pocket. Was hoping it was going to be slimmer than the G1. It is, but 3mm is barely slimmer. Nonetheless, this phone looks awesome and will be my next purchase.

  15. Nice.. I like how it looks in black though.. wonder if this is going to be it’s only color scheme in the US ?

  16. Still no mention, anywhere, about tethering. If this included this feature, I’m sure it would be mentioned somewhere… Lack of this feature would be a disappointment.

  17. wishful thought, a black version :)

  18. I like the look the only thing that concerns me is the hinges snapping over time by the way it opens.

I am still believing the G2 gets the 720p camcorder. Because they list it as “The HD camcorder captures more than video. It captures the experience. And now you can share it, in lifelike color and resolution.”

  19. @ sam… IM going to SHUT the uck up! LOL i was going to get this one until i saw the fabled mthd (because we dont know the specs yet).so im going to chill until i know what the deal is.

  20. Glad I got the samsung vibrant.

  21. @Wooters, HTC web site says G2 “features including an HD video camera for recording crystal-clear, high-definition (720p) videos…”. See here: http://www.htc.com/us/press/introducing-the-t-mobile-g2-with-google–the-first-smartphone-delivering-4g-speeds-on-t-mobiles-super-fast-hspa-network/19

I will be seeing the reviews on this one. I also am interested if they allow tethering by default.

  22. @Nick:

    G2 Talk Time
Up to 400 minutes for WCDMA
Up to 590 minutes for GSM.

    G2 Stand By Time
Up to 430 hours for WCDMA
Up to 430 hours for GSM

  23. @Nick:

    Nexus 1 Talk time
Up to 10 hours on 2G
Up to 7 hours on 3G
    Nexus 1 Standby time
Up to 290 hours on 2G
Up to 250 hours on 3G

  24. 10 hrs = 600 min
    7 hrs = 420 min

  25. Forgot the kicker…battery size….

    Nexus 1 ships with a 1400 mAh
    G2 ships with a 1300 mAh

Battery life on the G2 is nice, considering it ships with a smaller battery.

  26. I would trade my galaxy straight across for this. I am not like that Samsung.

  27. I think the Samsung vibrant is a lot better then this phone. Especially when 2.2 is released but, that’s just my opinion.

  28. @Paul agreed.
@ narynan I’ll buy your vibrant if its in a good condition, lol. ^_^
