Vlingo for Android Updated to Hook Into Social Networks and Foursquare

4

Vlingo promised they weren’t done supporting Android after Google announced their new Voice Search features. Even after making the application free for download, Vlingo’s kept that promise and surprised us with a nice update to their application today. You can now update your Twitter and Facebook statuses using nothing but the Vlingo voice widget. It also hooks into Foursquare by allowing you to check-in to a place by voice and to see where your friends are by saying “Where are my friends?”

I’m not the biggest voice control fan – not because I don’t think it’s cool, but because I have no practical use for it – but this does make me want to download and install Vlingo again to use with the services I use that it now supports. Check out the video above for a demonstration on the latest features.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  2. I have used it since they made it free… the keyboard has talk to text so I can compose or reply to txts while driving. There’s also an option to read your txts out loud.
That’s the only practical use I’ve found for voice apps — while driving. With this app, it’ll read my texts then I can tap one button and talk to reply. Pretty neat. (And a lot safer than typing while driving!)

  3. I’ve got a great idea. Why don’t you DRIVE while you’re driving you idiot.

  4. Its a good application for users who don’t have Android 2.2.
