Motorola Updates Update Chart to Show Droid X Getting FroYo “Late Summer”

15

With all of this FroYo flying around (food fight?) to several handsets very soon, Motorola Droid X users are wondering when they’ll be able to wake up to some good news. Today, Motorola’s given a general window for when you can expect to see Android 2.2 on Verizon’s latest Droid by updating their update chart. You guys can look forward to sweet frozen yogurt “in late summer”. Probably not the most desirable answer you were looking for, but at least you know you won’t have to wait until the leaves start falling to get your taste.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Looks like I’m taking this junk back for a dinc. Moto that press release you and verizon had for the dx…worthless. Big win for HTC, no locked bootloader either. Last to the party, cya!

  2. To me, late summer is the next 4 weeks. The term is so vague, but I guess it’s better than 3rd quarter.

I do find it odd that the Droid2 is supposed to launch in less than 2 weeks with 2.2 and the same “Blur, but not Blur” UI, yet they’re not able to accomplish the same with the DroidX. I guess it take some extra time for the HDMI code!?!?

  3. Yeah Ckeegan… that is strange. I love my X butt I sure hope that moto gets it together with the updates…I mean yeah the phones not been out that long and 2.2 should have been out a long time ago but still seems like moto takes forever to get updates…2.1 is to buggy and Should have been a thing of the past for new phones a long time ago

    i could not agree less.
its bullsh*t, i kinda feel pity about the cliq and Xt.
I have the droid X and i hated its a piece a shTt. its like google screwed up big time on the costume UI.

They really are the same. Q3 will end Sept 30. And the last day of summer is Sept 20.

  6. Calendar Quarters DO NOT necessarily relate to CORPORATE QUARTERS.. Think fellow Android lovers. I expect better than this from you. I’ll be enjoying my 2.2 this week, hope you all enjoy your newer phones. :)

  7. Well I just love seeing everyone else getting upgraded while I’m sitting here with my Dext running 1.5, people don’t trust moto, avoid moto.

  8. Man I can’t wait. My Droid X is about to get better, hopefully. I always hate to see that “expected” used in any release date. Leaves room for delays. I guess it’s better than a hard date like August 23rd just to have that day arrive and see an article saying its been pushed back again.

  9. if you buy a high end phone from a high end carrier, you should expect high end service.

  10. Well the X has a bunch of bugs they need to fix.

  11. Its longer for the x cuz the x. A. is newer. B. Has more bugs. C. has more software and D. They have to work around motos blocking software that they put in

  12. Hey, i recently was talking with a friend that has a Droid X
He said he recieved the 2.2 update about a week ago from Verizon. I am not sure how legit this is but he claims and showed me the build. Definitely FroYo 2.2

  13. I wouldn’t be SO shocked if some people have gotten Froyo on their Droid X, as I assume, given the 12th of August is true for the Droid 2, Froyo would be hitting us before/on that date.

  14. What I meant is they usually release it to a small portion for testing (guinea pigs moar like).

  15. My droid x has no bugs. What are you people talking about? It makes calls and has a big easy to read screen. Whiners.
