If you are anything like me, you’re probably feeling a bit anxious about the Android 2.2 update for the Motorola Droid now promised for next week. Perhaps we should occupy our now-frenzied minds by perusing this list of enhancements and additions that the Froyo FRG01B update holds. What are you looking forward to the most? Flash 10.1? Bluetooth voice dialing? Apps on your SD card? At least Droid owners won’t have to feel too jealous of the EVO crowd for too much longer.

  1. Apps on SD, not rooted.. never rooting. This phone still impresses everyone that sees it!

  2. I’m so pissed I bought a Mytouch 3G last November. I’m not one of those people who can afford to break contracts and buy the next hottest phone but rest assured I will not be signing my life away to so called Pioneer of Android again. Droid all the way on VZW for this reason.

  3. It doesn’t say anything about tethering? No?

  4. The ota official Drops August 3rd.

  5. Jab. I don’t want Verizon tethering. Use pdaNet for free.

  6. THis is basicaly what cm 6 is right? So if i root and get cm 6 i have basically what this is. or am i missing something. this is just “official” right.

  7. I have the same question as JAB. Will the EVO and DroidX have tethering like my Nexus? If not…how gimp! My guess is since sprint and verizon charge you extra to tether the answer is no…they will probably remove the feature off the phone…and still charge you 30 bucks…man I hope im wrong!

  8. Just in time(JIT) compiling?

  9. The somewhat official leaks allow tethering FWIW.

  10. No mention of portable hotspot function specified on the developer site. Verizon crippling their phones again in favor of their own paid tethering service?

  11. Does anyone know if you can root 2.2 the same as u can on the Driod X?

  12. Ummm…. yeah. Tethering? Wi-Fi hotspot? Cloud to device prompts and messaging? What gives?! C’mon Verizon!! Other than that, very excited for this update, about fraking time.

  13. Great device,I like it.
    Thanks buddy.

  14. Enhanced audio quality? Interesting. No mention of the 5 times overall performance increase, faster processing, whatever they said that is supposed to make this version super fast.

  15. Enhanced audio quality? Interesting. No mention of the 5X benchmark increase over 2.1 that we have read about. Wi-Fi hotspot? Tethering? Cloud to device messaging? Hello Verizon? What gives?

  16. I want Droid X to get this.

  17. Where is the friggin update for my droid X? The lame setup now is TERRIBLE when do we get FROYO!!!

  18. Does this mean we get 5 screens???

  19. Just get launcherpro (free) and you get 7 home screens.

  20. @TS, I was wondering the same thing… 5 screens would be awesome!!

  21. Winners don’t wait for Verizon!

    Just say Root for Froyo!

  22. @librainian, there cannot bea portable hotspot like for the increadable. This is due because the droid would need something physically inside the phone. Its not something that can be just updated.

  23. much awaited update but some good feature like Flash, Bluetooth voice dialing to make life easier.
