Orange Getting the ZTE Blade – A Decent Looking Android

1

Orange is bringing in a device that we didn’t expect would look so good. The ZTE Blade was first spotted at the Mobile World Congress this past february, but little was known about the device and where it was headed.

It’s being called “Project JAL” around the ‘sphere and – if some of these early specs are anything to go by – the rest of the phone could be shaping up to be quite the contender. It’ll run Android 2.1 on a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 480×800. It’s also said to be packing an OLED screen beneath the glass.

Add in a 3-megapixel camera and we could see this device sitting in a tier just below offerings like the Droid X, HTC Desire, Nexus One, Xperia X10, etc, but ZTE’s not looking to get too cheap with this thing.
